Freedom Hill - It was in 1991 that Francois Klomp, a civil engineer by profession, and his wife Adila, fell in love with and purchased this beautiful 82-hectare farm situated on the slopes of the Wemmershoek Mountain in the Paarl Wine of Origin Region. They named it "Klompzicht", and combining their talents with those of a small, inspired team under wine maker Francois Naude, set out to develop it into what has become a model, boutique estate. Freedom Hill wines are produced on this historic farm. The prestigious range derives its name from the fact that the vineyards overlook the legendary Victor Verster Prison (now Drakenstein Prison), where Nelson Mandela took his first steps to freedom - thus heralding a bright new era for our country. Today, each wine in this range is a joyous tribute to liberty.
Rickety Bridge - Duncan Spence, British business man with a GREAT passion for wine and food and a love of South Africa combined his interests when he purchased Rickety Bridge in 2000, and has been instrumental in providing the tools for the renaissance of this historic estate. The land dates back to 1694 when farms, situated in the valley at the foot of what is now known as the Franschhoek Mountain were given to Huguenot farmers – Rickety Bridge was once part of the original La Provence farm. Rickety Bridge is situated just outside the quaint town of Franschhoek, food and wine capital of the Cape. Duncan upgraded the facilities and employed a new enthusiastic winemaker Wynand Grobler whose wine making philosophy is. Basics. Stick to basics.   Don’t interfere too much; the wine is made in the vineyard.  (‘We grow wine here!’).

Raats Family

Raats Wines - In 2000 top winemaker Bruwer Raats founded Raats Family on the Vlaebergroad, Polkadraai. Raats Family Wines is a small family winery that focuses on creating exceptionally wines made from Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. The selection of old vineyards and vinifying them separately to achieve the full potential of each individual block, underlines their commitment to quality. The entire Raats family, including the children who gave up their rides to school in an Audi for the same trip in a bantum bakkie so that the family could invest more funds into the development of the Raats Family Cellar, contribute to reach this goal. Today Raats Family Wines is rated as one of the top 20 new wine producers in the world.
